You asked for it… and you got it! When we gave our audience several choices for a replacement Halloween-season movie, there was a clear winner: An American Werewolf in London. John Landis’ 1981 horror classic is one of those rare movies that manages to be genuinely scary, wildly funny, completely unpredictable—and still a whole lot of fun more than four decades later.
Two American backpackers traveling through England take a wrong turn, encounter something they definitely should not have encountered, and set off one of the most entertaining werewolf stories ever put on film. Add unforgettable makeup and transformation effects, a darkly comic sense of humor, a terrific soundtrack, and just enough British atmosphere, and you've got a perfect Movies on Main Street Halloween-night experience.
