WHEN HARARY MET SALLY
Tues. December 8th
YOU ASKED FOR IT
Romance/Comedy (1989)
Can men and women really be “just friends”? Harry Burns and Sally Albright spend years arguing about exactly that question as their friendship slowly — and inevitably — becomes something more. Billy Crystal and Meg Ryan are terrific together, delivering one of the sharpest and funniest romantic comedies of the 1980s, with Nora Ephron’s screenplay providing an endless supply of memorable observations about love, friendship and relationships.

MIXED NUTS
Christmas or Not
Tues. December 22nd
Comedy (1994)
Who says Christmas movies have to be sweet, sentimental, and wrapped up with a pretty bow? This year, Movies on Main Street is taking a decidedly different route with Mixed Nuts, a gloriously offbeat holiday comedy that proves the season of goodwill can also be a season of absolute lunacy! Directed by Nora Ephron (Sleepless in Seattle), this 1994 comedy throws us into one increasingly chaotic Christmas Eve at a struggling crisis hotline in Los Angeles. With the organization facing financial trouble and its staff barely holding things together, a parade of eccentric callers, unexpected visitors, romantic complications, and downright bizarre situations turns an already difficult night into a full-blown holiday disaster.
